The Beer River - Deep River Story
Beer River is the affectionate name that locals associate with Deep River, Canada. The name was embedded in local culture during the 70's when the water tower on Highway 17 that welcomes visitors to the town was repainted with the name 'Beer River'.
Founded in 1944, Deep River remains the home for scientists who pioneered and continue building Canada's nuclear industry at Chalk River Nuclear Labs, just down the highway at Chalk River. Both towns are on an impressively deep river - the Ottawa.

About the Beer River Store
The Beer River Co. Store sells Deep River and Beer River themed gifts and merchandise, including prints of artwork by local Deep River artists.
Jim and Karen Crocker are the proprietors of the store. Jim grew up in Deep River and returned in 2020. As partners in a successful consulting and writing agency, Jim and Karen gained years of experience marketing and selling on-line. That experience motivated them to set up The Beer River Store when they moved to Deep River.
